The doctrine of waqf is interwoven with the entire religious life and social economy of the muslims all over the world and has laid down the foundation of one of the most important institution of the community. Considering the number of auqaf throughout the country and the resources they can generate auqaf can become a strong instrument not only for the preservation of religious, charitable and philanthropic institutions but also for the educational and economic development of the community. The term waqf denotes an endowment which is to be used solely for the purposes recognized under Islamic Law as pious, religious or charitable.
